Selection Process & Detailed Exam Structure

The SBI PO selection process is divided into three distinct stages to test candidate aptitude, analytical ability, and communication skills:

1. Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

The Prelims exam is an objective online test of 100 marks with 100 questions to be solved in 1 hour (20 minutes per section). The test consists of English Language (40 questions), Quantitative Aptitude (30 questions), and Reasoning Ability (30 questions). Note: There are no sectional cut-offs in Phase-I. Candidates qualifying the aggregate score (approx. 10 times the vacancy count) will be shortlisted for Phase-II.

2. Phase-II: Main Examination

The Mains exam features an Objective Test for 200 marks (3 hours) and a Descriptive Paper for 30 marks (30 minutes) for letter and essay writing. The objective sections cover Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, and English Language. Negative marking of 1/4th mark applies for incorrect answers in both Prelims and Mains.

3. Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview

Candidates scoring above the minimum qualifying aggregate in Mains (up to 3 times the vacancies) will move to Phase-III, which carries 50 marks (Group Exercise: 20 marks, Interview: 30 marks). Marks obtained in Mains and Interview will be normalized to 100 marks to create the final merit list.
