Recruitment & Selection Process
The recruitment process for Himachal Pradesh Police Constables involves a highly comprehensive assessment methodology to filter the best candidates based on athletic capacity, medical fitness, and intellectual ability. The selection procedure consists of the following consecutive stages:
- Physical Test (PST & PMT): Testing minimum height requirements, chest expansions (for men), followed by endurance standards. (This stage is qualifying in nature).
- Written Examination: An objective-type test consisting of multiple-choice questions assessing General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, English, and Hindi.
- Document Verification & Evaluation: Checking the originality of educational background, category status certificates, and allocation of bonus marks for NCC certificates.
- Medical Examination: Final health evaluation checking eyesight, standard physical reflexes, and systemic wellness constraints as per standard police manuals.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Requirements
Candidates must successfully pass each specific athletic standard event listed below to qualify for the written assessment. No marks are given for the PET metrics; it is strictly a qualifying stage.
| Event Name | Male Candidate Standards | Female Candidate Standards |
|---|---|---|
| Race (Distance) | 1500 Meters (Max time: 5 Minutes 30 Seconds) | 800 Meters (Max time: 4 Minutes 15 Seconds) |
